Why I Travel

My name is Brooke (aka Little Blonde Traveler). This blog is my way of sharing my travels, experiences, and life-ideals with not just my friends and family, but with the rest of the world as well.

Simply put...I want to be someone's inspiration.

In May 2011, after breaking up with the man I thought I was going to spend the rest of my life with, I graduated from my University with a degree in English Literature at the ripe old age of 20. YUP, I graduated in only three years–and no, early graduation had never been my intention. After turning 21 I moved back to my hometown of Knoxville, Tennessee to live with my parents and attempt to make sense of the confusion my life had suddenly become.

My ex had shattered my heart, along with my identity, and the idea of now having to start a career and make real-world life choices scared the living hell out of me. How on earth, at 21 years old, was I supposed to just know what I wanted to do with the rest of my life? I was beyond scared and quickly realized that if I didn't start doing something about my situation soon, life was going to keep knocking me on my ass.

I was in the prime position to do something drastic.

So...in October 2011, full of fear, confusion, and new-found self-independence, I took my life savings, packed a bag, and headed on a two month, solo journey across the coast of Asia and Oceania...my "Epic Trip of a Lifetime" (as I call it):

  • Brisbane, Australia
  • Cairns, Australia
  • Auckland, New Zealand
  • Taupo, New Zealand
  • Wellington, New Zealand
  • Franz Josef, New Zealand
  • Queenstown, New Zealand

...Needless to say it absolutely changed my life.

So drastically, in fact, that less than a year later, on July 10th, 2012 I sold everything I own, packed another back pack, and headed out to explore the world. To live, travel, experience...and to keep learning things about myself I had never known before. The amount I learned about the world (and myself) on my first trip was life-altering. And now it was time for me to chronicle my new experiences as I headed out on my "Epic ADVENTURE of a Lifetime":

**Currently, I'm living and working in Sydney with a Sydney man I've fallen head over-heels for. My adventures aren't over though, and I have A LOT still to share with the world.**


 My goal with this blog is to inspire other people to take the plunge. Too many of us are taught not to take risks, not to stray from the norm and the way we're told things are supposed to be done...I'm here to tell you, and show you, otherwise.

We all only have one life to live, and I am beyond determined to make mine count.
